Gorontalo City, InfoPublik– Regional planning agency of Gorontalo Province successfully held a group discussion focused on preparing the Gorontalo Geopark master plan (Renduk).

This second discussion raised the topic "Formulation of the Vision and Action Plan for the Development of the Gorontalo Geopark."

Present at this discussion was Dody Virgo Christopher Ricardo Sinaga as implementing coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Action Plan (NAP) for Geopark Development Regional planning agency, Yunus Kusumabrata, member of the Indonesian National Geopark Committee (INGC) Expert Council, PMU team, Head of district/city regional apparatus organizations, representatives of vertical agencies and stakeholders in Gorontalo Province.

"The master plan serves as a reference for the development and management of Geoparks by local governments to guide all regional stakeholders in the management and development of Geoparks in line with national and regional policies. This is what we conveyed at the opening of the discussion, which was held last Tuesday," said Sofyan Ibrahim, Head of the Regional planning agency for Gorontalo Province, Friday (11/8/2023).

Sofyan Ibrahim added that this master plan also provides direction for sustainable utilization of the potential of geopark areas by natural and cultural conditions and a means of coordination, synergy, and synchronization of the implementation of regional planning and development policies.

Sofyan hopes stakeholders can fully participate in geopark development, from focus group discussions to preparing quality and implementable Gorontalo geopark master plan documents.

Dody Virgo Christopher Ricardo Sinaga conveyed that the output of this focus group discussion was the thematic vision and development, the draft of a four-pillar action plan, and the initial design of infrastructure needs in priority Geosites.

The discussion was divided into two groups to formulate visions, policies, development strategies, themes, Geotrail designs, and sub-themes.

"Early in September 2023, we will submit the Gorontalo Geopark to be designated as a National Geopark. Therefore the Gorontalo Geopark development master plan document, which is temporarily being prepared, must be completed by the end of this August, ” said Tity Iriani Datau, Head of Research and Innovation for the regional planning agency for Gorontalo Province.
