In order to encourage the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Gorontalo Provincial government has established an SDGs secretariat. The secretariat, which is under the coordination of the Regional Research and Development Planning Agency (BAPPPEDA), works closely with various parties to realize the achievement of the SDGs in Gorontalo.

BAPPEDA of Gorontalo Province through the SDGs secretariat held a multi-stakeholder discussion with concerns about waste management and household waste. JICA as one of the government's development partners provides support in the form of comprehensive views and input.

Community involvement in encouraging the achievement of the SDGs continues to be improved. Collaboration between the Gorontalo Provincial Planning Agency and the Gorontalo Provincial SDGs Secretariat and the Gorontalo State University regarding village strengthening to support sustainable development is also ongoing.
