Head of the Gorontalo Province Agency for Regional Development, Sofian Ibrahim, opened the Business Skills Socialization activity in the Mining Area and around the Gorontalo Province Geopark with the theme "Development of Bamboo Woven and Bamboo Coiling Products" at the Amaris Hotel Gorontalo, Monday (16/10/2023)

This activity was organized by Human Resource Development Center Geology, Minerals, and Coal, the Energy and Mineral Resources Human Resources Development Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the context of developing human resources, especially creative industry players and MSMEs located around the Gorontalo Geopark mining and aspiring area.

On that occasion, Sofian said that the training would be carried out had good opportunities and could foster economic development. "Bamboo craft training is informal education which is very useful because it can provide knowledge and skills to the community which is expected to open up opportunities for independent work so that it can increase family income and improve family welfare and can reduce unemployment in the community," he said.

Sofian hopes that with training activities and socialization of business skills in the form of bamboo weaving and coiling, small businesses or prospective craftsmen can grow and produce various kinds of quality products, which will later become one of the superior products of the Gorontalo Geopark. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to the Human Resource Development Center for Bandung's geology, minerals, and coal and hoped that this training program could be sustainable and sustainable.

Meanwhile, according to the Coordinator of Organizing and Facilities for Human Resource Development, Ade Hidayat, in his speech, the aim of carrying out this activity was to provide knowledge on how to process bamboo material to make various kinds of souvenir products such as bamboo baskets, shelves, bags, Etc. He also added that the Human Resource Development Center Geology, Minerals, and Coal is present through various socialization programs to improve skills and insight into communities around the mine and geopark so that they can face future conditions when mining activities have ended. This training activity will be held from 16 – 21 October 2023 at the Amaris Hotel, Gorontalo. This training was attended by 60 people from Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Regency, Bone Bolango Regency, North Gorontalo Regency, Boalemo Regency, and Pohuwato Regency.

“Training participants will be taught new designs by combining bamboo with other materials. "During the activity, participants will carry out more practical activities, and it is hoped that at the end of the activity, they will be able to present their work as a result of practical activities in developing crafts made from bamboo," concluded Ade
