The Secretary General of the Global Geopark Network (GGN), Guy Martini, entrusted the preservation of the old city historic sites are important as civilizational legacies for future generations.

Guy Martini with the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planing team received by the Acting Governor at the Official Home, Sunday (9/7/2023). Also present accompanying the Acting Regional Secretary for the province, Budiyanto Sidiki and some leaders Regional Apparatus Organization.

"We are trying to convey to the governor the importance of the program brought by the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. When interviewed, we also discussed the importance of preserving old houses." said Martini.

The man from France added that the historic old house is suitable to be an information center for the Gorontalo Geopark. The area's uniqueness in geology, culture and history deserves to be documented and informed to the public.

Martin's visit was titled "advisory mission" to asses whether the Aspiring Geopark Gorontalo status deserves to be designated as a National Geopark under UNESCO supervision.

On the third day of their visit, they were scheduled to review the Olele marine park, the Olohuta Geosite and the Lombongo hot springs.
