In an effort to advance the tourism potential of the Gorontalo Geopark, the Gorontalo Province BAPPPEDA, through the field of research and innovation, is holding a proposal seminar aimed at identifying potential UMKM that can support the promotion of the Gorontalo Geopark area. The seminar was held in the meeting room on the 1st floor of BAPPPEDA Gorontalo Province, presenting officials from the MSME sector from the district/city and Gorontalo province.
In the seminar, Dr. Selvi, as head of the research team, explained that the potential of the Gorontalo Geopark as a leading tourist destination has not been optimized. One factor that is of concern is the involvement of UMKM in efforts to promote the Geopark area which is still low. Therefore, an appropriate strategy is needed to increase the involvement of UMKM and maximize their potential in supporting the promotion of the Geopark area.
It is hoped that the proposed research can contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the Gorontalo Geopark area and improving the welfare of local communities. By identifying potential UMKM and recommending products or services that can be integrated into promotional efforts for the Gorontalo Geopark area, it is hoped that this can have a positive impact on tourism development and the local economy.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed strategies for empowering UMKM to increase involvement in the promotion of the Gorontalo Geopark area. It is hoped that this effort can create synergy between the government and small and medium businesses to support the sustainable development of Geopark tourism.
Apart from that, the UMKM gallery was also explained which will be a means of promoting superior UMKM products to tourists visiting the Gorontalo Geopark. With collaboration between the government and UMKM, it is hoped that the Gorontalo Geopark can become a more attractive and sustainable tourist destination.
