Bone Bolango, Kominfotik – Some Geosites in Bone Bolango Regency were reviewed by the Secretary General of UNESCO's Global Geopark Network (GGN), Guy Martini, Sunday (9/7/2023). It is A place with a track record of nature, living things, and culture from ancient times that was proposed to become a Gorontalo Geopark.
On the third day of his visit, Guy Martini and his entourage from the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning look closely at the charm of the Olele marine park. Diving lovers at home and abroad are familiar with this place. Underwater beauty, biodiversity, and rare marine species can be found at Olele.
Another location visited was Oluuta. The coastal village in Kabila Bone District holds the mystery of human civilization around 700 years ago. At this location, 12 prehistoric human fossils were found. The findings of square stone pickaxes confirmed this suspicion as neolithic stone tools, pottery fragments, and remnants of bronze metal castings.
“After visiting Gorontalo for the last three days, I get the impression that the people of Gorontalo are very connected to the sea and forests. The community also has strong traditions and culture; I am very impressed," said Guy Martini during the visit.
Another destination that caught his attention was Lombongo hot springs. The geothermal location is even more interesting because it is a Maleo bird conservation area. The Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (TNBNW) continuously guarded this endangered endemic species.
On this occasion, Martini and the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning team, accompanied by the Acting Regional Secretary for the province, Budiyanto Sidiki, released several Maleo birds.
